It s not always been a straightforward journey for Diane McMurdie as she has pursued her vision to make music which ministers and like many an independent UK musician, she has struggled to raise the finance to record. This CD marks an improvement of quality and a more cohesive approach. There are three tracks that stand out here. Interestingly, all three are slower songs. I like the vibe of the duet with Michael Rye, "All You Say, All You Do" and its gentle message of hope in the midst of pain through the faithfulness of God. "Softly And Tenderly" has a suitable intensity summing up the unceasing call of God, yearning for us to move deeper into relationship with him. Finally, "Desert Rose" utilises the whole band to create another atmospheric piece of easy listening pop which ministers. Budget restrictions mean that there is still a muggy sound here and there and a few rough edges with out of tune instruments or vocals but you can't deny that some of these songs really work and her passion and commitment mean that she and Freespirit have much to offer in a live setting.
