In the States Dottie Rambo is something of a gospel music institution with her songs having been recorded by a variety of artists crossing several musical boundaries. The DVD is basically Bill Gaither talking at length to Dottie and learning about her life in music and how she came to write many of the fine songs that you can hear on this excellent album. Dottie grew up in Kentucky, raised on country music and was particularly influenced by the early Grand Old Opry performers, only ever envisaging that her music would remain within the confines of country music. However great songs like "I Go To The Rock" can easily be performed by white or black singers which only illustrates what a fine songwriter she is. I particularly enjoyed "The Holy Hills Of Heaven Call Me" and "Holy Spirit, Thou Art Welcome". In the bonus material there are some fascinating examples of early Dottie Rambo songs with her trio but the high point of this DVD has to be the final track "We Shall Behold Him" featuring a very powerful vocal by Sandi Patty which has to be heard to be appreciated!
