Four piece Northumbrian pop rock outfit Endgame present a six-track CD recorded live in the studio. There are plenty of jangly guitars and the erm_ "distinctive" vocals from singer Sarah Tyler but what is gained in immediacy from the live recording is lost in the overall sound which suffers a little from the production. Occasionally out of tune, the overall effect doesn't really connect when it spills out of the speakers. Well intentioned and with an attempt at writing some songs that communicate, complete with a bit of intensity thrown into the pot, sadly this lacks the kind of sparkle to grab me. Judging from the sleeve, it looks like this is nearly two years old so hopefully the band have had a chance to grow since this was recorded. A bit of work needed methinks.
