This is an extraordinary album! Originally intended as an album exploring the demonic, Eva realised she knew little about angels and failing to find any info, she resorted to reading Billy Graham's Angels whereupon she was miraculously converted, delivered from demon possession and the album suddenly took on a new dimension! Not the usual recording process for a CCM album! But then this is an epic recording with grandiose production, left field songs and the ability to intrigue, confound and mesmerise. From the goth rock of "Children Of The Light" through the histrionic vocals of "Angel Of Earth/Angel Of Death" which explodes into a pounding guitar epic. "Songs That Save" dramatically reaches out to those on the edge, lonely, suicidal, in pain. Occasionally she reminds me of Hazel O'Connor or Toy ah Wilcox in her vocal delivery and one thing is for sure, in a sea of bland Christian music, Eva O is capable of shipwrecking the expectations of those who think that Christian music is one dimensional. Eva O adds shadow to the light and if you're looking for something strange and lovely, epic and different, chase this one! An astonishing album!
