Glenn Garrett is a singer/songwriter originally from Birmingham, Alabama, who in the early '80s had Christian radio hits with songs like "I'm Born Again" and "You Are Jehovah". Today Glenn operates as an independent out of Franklin, Tennessee and here delivers engaging narratives and Christian themes with a warm and restful atmosphere. 'Garrett' opens with "Pull Me Out", a song that displays the vulnerability and weakness of a man who has an earnest desire to be rescued by God and smoothly shifts through several moods. "Fire" is more passionate and chronicles the strength of "a lady" who surmounts the struggles of life because of the "fire burning in her heart". Overall, though never less than pleasant, one wishes Glenn would occasionally break into something a little more adventurous. However, because of its deft musicianship and songwriting craft 'Garrett' is still an impressive album by a veteran who clearly knows how to make calm and soothing music.
