Gillie Nicholls is a superb singer/songwriter whose eclectic mix of jazz, blues and folk has brought her acclaim in the mainstream while her debut CD 'Spirit Talk' for Celtic gained rave reviews. Now she's formed a band Red Blue Green with fretless bassman Neil Simpson and percussionist Steve Bolton and on this 6-song tape the trio perform stunning, richly textured music. Gillie's voice can best be described like a cross between Tracey Chapman and Sandi Denny while the songs though not in-your-face gospel are finely crafted.
