I've seldom been more impressed by a debut recording than this. Born in New Zealand and relocating to the UK in 2004, this masterly songsmith has won all kinds of songwriting plaudits and came to the attention of a certain Paul McCartney. In fact, Macca sings some subtle back ups on this beautiful poignant song which explores the richness of everyday humanity in a haunting melody and with a string arrangement from the Chicago Symphonic Orchestra most singer/songwriters would die for. A captivating taster from an album ('Extraordinary Lives') likely to be one of the best of the year.
