I was ambushed by the Gospel Gangstaz in a hotel lobby. They were loud, they were confident, they liked my english accent! We arranged to get together but they didn't show! We tried to arrange it a couple of times but it never happened. It's testimony that this album is so good that I'm not upset that they stood me up! Legal wrangles have kept them out of the studio for too long but the lay off seems only to have made them determined to establish themselves at the top of the hip hop tree. Like GRITS, these guys are capable of mixing and matching a variety of styles and approaches but always deliver tracks that are interesting, from the melody and relentless rapping of the title cut through more striped down tunes like the soulful "I Call Your Name" and the tongue in cheek hot cut "They Don't Believe That Im Saved". "Live It Up" is a speedy hyped up intense tale. In these days where there are scores of rap acts out there, GGz create something fresh, they will be a new name to some, but for the rest of us, it's a welcome back!
