The 'Sounds Irish' limited edition compilation and a stonking Greenbelt performance helped create a buzz for this fine acoustic singer/songwriter and now this most intelligent of musicians offers a delicious little 4-track morsel which will have his growing legion of supporters satisfied while they wait for his first CD. Here's a man who crafts songs, delivers them with one of the most effecting voices heard for many a long day while his guitar working is fluid and neat. (I liked the fretless as well.) 'Rain' will take time to grow on Joe Punter -immediate it is not - but the haunting "The Breeze" with lain intoning the hook "swept along by the grace" as pipes and whistle swirl in and out of the shimmering melody is quite lovely. Recommended.
