When I first put this in my CD player I thought I'd actually jumped in a time machine and been transported back to the glory days of melodic metal of the late '80s and '90s. But what an enjoyable ride! Incrave (formally known as Evergrace) play no holds barred power metal at its best. These guys remind me a bit of fondly remembered Stryper and others but with a darker modern edge. They manage to mix piano/synth just right amongst the lead and rhythm guitar. Vocally John Falk reminds me of the aforementioned Stryper lead vocalist Michael Sweet while of lyrically they are okay, taking the approach of being Christians in a band with little in the way of direct statements of faith. But as long as they play from their heart then it's fine by me. In my opinion this is a talented group who hopefully we will hear more from in the future.
