Atlanta, Georgia-based singer/songwriter Jaxon Reed's main asset is his smooth, soulful voice and he puts it to good use on this EP of songs that tackle different aspects of the Christian faith. Backed by a straightforward but accomplished combo of guitar, bass and drums, the punchy "I Need You" - previously released as a single - communicates reliance on God to the backdrop of a life of addiction whilst the upbeat title track sees Jaxon express his desire to be more like Jesus. Proceedings are taken down a notch with the acoustic "Disciple" before the thumping "What He Is To Me" takes Christ's sacrifice on the cross as its inspiration. Two backing track versions of "I Need You" are tagged on to the end of a release that combines considered lyrics, Jaxon's vocal talents and a sturdy musical backdrop to good effect.
