Since releasing their first, self-produced album in 2007, husband and wife duo Jenny & Tyler Somers have been creating lyrically emotive, beautiful and honest love songs. "We've been writing love songs from the beginning," Tyler explains, "though they're not all stereotypically romantic. We see songs of friendship and social justice and the divine as love songs too." Their latest album, 'There Will Be A Song,' is a journey of friendship, faith and intimacy whilst carrying elements of their prayer life within the lyrics. Their choice of melody with each track perfectly matches the words of each song, truly taking you into the journey and message that they are trying to convey. At times the album is reminiscent of Jon Foreman's work, the 'Seasons', as Tyler's vocals carry a similar tone and resonance. Other musical influences seem to be Glen Hansard and Foy Vance. A highlight of the album is "I'm Gonna Love You To The End" which I can imagine being played at many a wedding to come, whilst "O Freedom (There Will Be A Song)" and "Waters Roll" offer a rather different sound that emotes passionate cries for kingdom justice. Jenny & Tyler are storytellers as much as they are musicians and are definitely a duo to begin following if you haven't already done so.
