The 'Free Acoustic Sampler' is designed to introduce you to the music of Jo Ballard whilst she gets down to recording a six-track full production EP. Originally from the Isle Of Wight, she's currently studying in Hertfordshire and getting on with developing her music. The 19 year old has a fine soulful voice and definite songwriting talent and judging by the sounds captured here, she'd be great to book with a band or just armed with an acoustic guitar! Insightful confessional songs like "Honest Man" and although "Not The Influence" and "Promise" are not quite so strong, they make me want to hear more of her stuff and hopefully another EP is just around the corner. And in a climate where female singer/songwriters are being encouraged and applauded, there's a big stage waiting for Jo.
