The label I've given this CD is roots/acoustic which is as much a reflection of the ethos of the recording than the instrumentation. It's just that part of New Jersey-based Joe's Christian life is to express himself in writing songs and singing them. So he, friends and family have worked together to record them. That makes it all sound quite low key, which is partly true. However the songs, whilst being very simple musically, are presented in such a way that gives them the compelling authenticity of one man's response to God. Most of the music is centred on Joe, his singing and his guitar but there are plenty of subtle, interesting frills and touches that keep it from ever being dull.
