These days John Elefante is probably best known for his production work (with brother Dino) for a variety of Christian artists. People have a habit of forgetting that he is also a world class singer having fronted mainstream rock band Kansas in the 80s. 'Windows Of Heaven' is more than an aide memoir for Elefante's past vocal victories; it's a sumptuous feast of hi-tech glossy 90s rock. Musically, it skips styles from catchy poprockers through to some of the best rock ballads you could hope to hear. One of those ballads, "That's Why God Made The Moon", had me reaching for the repeat play button on my CD player because it is simply gorgeous! Pure poetry! There are times when you cannot avoid being gobsmacked by Elefante's singing but that's only half the story. Elefante's songwriting is excellent. "This Is What Love Is" and "No One Ever Died For Me Before" talk of grace and forgiveness. "What If Our World" looks at how we would survive without God. This is more than a rock album because Elefante throws so many different elements into the pot, a dash of gospel backing vocals here, a dollop of horns there and it all sounds like a recipe for success to me. Cookin'!

Nice review by Mike R., I like the positive reviews, there's enough negative in reviews out there.
John has come a long way since being the front man for pop group Kansas in the early 80's.
I like the intro song Hello, My Good Friend (a letter from the Lord). The lyrics to cd title capture the soul.
This Is What Love Is title reminds so much of song by Out of the Grey duo, based on same theme. I love the song, great for ccm, & great bgvs also.
No One's Ever Died For Me Before will catch the ears of all listeners, this is what it 's all about in ccm.
Who cannot connect with That's Why God Made The Moon, this is quite the most honorable mention song on the cd. Great horns are heard. A nice, roaring vocal kind'a ballad closes the cd, We Will Find Our Way." He is like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth fruit in his season, his leaf shall not wither, and whatsoever he does shall prosper."
(Psalm 1:3 paraphrased). God bless, Don

I have known John since he was very young. He is my ex-husbands cousin. He played at our wedding back in 1972 when he was with Brotherhood. He is an excelent artist and always has been since he was very young. Saw him when he was with Kansas in Pittsburg and he stole the show he was so good. Great musician.
