A parallel with pianist Richard Clayderman is going to be hard to avoid. John Tesh was born in 1952 and Richard in 1953, they play instrumental tunes at the piano accompanied by skilled musicians, their music seems to have come from the same mother. They even look like each other; check it out, it's amazing, if not a little weird. Both musicians have carved out for themselves an unusual niche in the market. John's music is not so well known in the UK or Europe though in the US John is a popular TV presenter. John has a liking of all things Sting and beautifully covers "Shape Of My Heart". The classical guitar is exquisitely played in the track giving the song depth, breadth and feel. I suppose it's easy for some pianists to churn out the tunes, but that's not the case here. Each melody is arranged with thought and poignant dynamics, John writes a number of them himself, the themes never outstay their welcome. This package of engaging, MOR ambient music has 12 tracks on the CD and nine on the DVD.
