If you were a hair’s breath from death and Jesus brought you back, just imagine what you would be like afterwards, especially if you were seriously good at playing guitar. Now imagine if Jesus brought Kurt Cobain back from the dead, what that would be like, and you’re on the right track to conceptualising what Vince Lichlyter, the lead singer and songwriter of Jonah 33, is like. Vince has a shockingly strong testimony that is going to be so hard to make him keep quiet he is best left to play it loud. The musical talents of the rhythmic drums and bass are equally strong in carrying the passionate vocals to a driving slam dance. Unlike many rock bands they know when to calm down and even have Richard Marx-style piano ballads as well, but it’s a bit of a contrast to the grunge style. Think of an electric guitarist, then think banks of sound effect pedals, and then wonder what a guitarist is like without them. For some reason despite the quality production someone forgot to use any effects on the main guitars, so many of the tracks sound very similar. Still, there is no way even the Devil could keep these guys quiet.
