The release of Josiah's 2013 single "Sinking Ships" got your Cross Rhythms scribes digging into the Californian songsmith's back catalogue. This 2012 album was well worth the effort. There's a wide variety of styles on offer here, "Distant Lights" is a piano-based soft worship song with powerful lyrics ("I'm running fast, I'm trying to reach you/I'm pushing things that are in my way/And they don't really know what you mean to me"); "Love Shy Spark" has a bit of Owl City-style pop electronica about it while the opener "More To This Life" is a joyful upbeat celebration, again with electronica tinges. One reviewer suggested that this album sounded a bit like the mainstream's Jack's Mannequin and I wouldn't disagree. If you enjoy celebratory thinking man's pop it's still not too late to catch up like Cross Rhythms have.
