There are so many young pop divas around these days Stateside that you have to be pretty special to stand out. Joy Williams is one such case. Originally offered a recording contract aged 14, she wisely waited to complete her schooling and at 18 has launched what could be a promising career. Classy ballads such as "I Believe In You" and closer "Do They See Jesus In Me" (an inspired lyric) jostle for position with sassy uptempo cuts such as "It's All Good", "Up", and a favourite of both Mr Rimmer and myself and a contender for song of the year, the brilliant "Serious" with a compulsive R&B-style groove. An exceptional new singing talent.
