Country music of impeccable class - a great voice with a touch of Dolly Parton in her prime about it, catchy melodies, a hand picked team of superb players (with Rob Ickes on dobro and Larry Franklin on fiddle deserving special mention) and lyrics which deal with such downhome topics as making moonshine during the prohibition era ("Stillhouse Road") and how to make cornmeal bread ("Made From Scratch"). But more often the songs here reflect Julie's deep Christian faith and they are magnificent with "Many Waters" and "Your Love" as hauntingly beautiful as anything you're likely to hear. Some wonderful BVs too from Alison Krauss and Vince Gill. If you buy one country album this year, this is the one to get.
