Phew! In an album that has no breaks between songs with each running seamlessly into the next, this huge slab of metal is relentless in its onslaught. Heavily reminiscent of the excellent Cult Of Luna, Germany's Kashee Opeiah's sound is monstrously suffocating, shot through with some interesting rhythm changes that serve to keep you guessing. Although Kashee Opeiah had previously recorded an album under the name Slidepulsedown, this is a band with a new purpose and direction. Vocally, frontman Daniel Ziesche sounds raw and frightening, and even as the more subdued parts of songs come around and he drops to almost spoken lyrics, the overwhelming anticipation of the next world-sundering riff allows no respite. The bass is worthy of special mention since it sounds simply fantastic in its growling magnificence and punches through clearly with the well-produced sound. Is there anything wrong with it? Well, there could perhaps be slightly more variety in the aural soundscape created, but it doesn't feel like this is Kashee Opeiah's style; this band are here to sonically crush your skull.
