Leaving aside some of their rather generic worship music, whenever Australian or New Zealand acts get a release in the international market you can almost guarantee quality. And this is no exception. Described in her publicity as "a soul-fed mix of roots and blues" though there's more of the brittle poignancy of Sarah McLachlan and such thoughtful singer/songwriters while the arrangements, expertly put together by Wayne Huirua at Parachute Music's new Auckland studios are a smart mix of the slickly layered and the room-to-breathe organic. Lyrics are strong ("I Close my eyes but still see the print of your finger upon me" - from "Come Away"; "I wake up and face the day, I shake off the need to look a certain way") as she deals with the realities of walking the walk in a world of siren voices with wit and no little insight. Yep, I'm tipping big things for Katy Wray (that's how she spells it on the composer credits). More top rate Australian talent.

Product Description
A soul-fed mix of roots and blues,
Dreaming For Something More is Katy’s first solo release in six years. Kiwi audiences have already embraced Katy, having been wooed by live performances at this year’s Noise Music & Worship Conference and Parachute 06. The Festival also presented a chance for Katy to meet and perform with star producer and Parachute Band founding member, Wayne Huirua.
With Wayne at the helm, Dreaming For Something More was recorded between Adelaide and the brand new Parachute Studios in Auckland. Artists from both locations were enlisted for the recording, including top Kiwi engineer, Nic Manders (Brooke Fraser, juliagrace, Nathan King).
Katy is a passionate singer/songwriter, whose main motivation is to see people discover their own purpose and direction in life. Citing Jeff Buckley, KT Tunstall, Jewel and Coldplay as key influences, Katy also draws inspiration from her deep faith in God to explore themes of dreams, failure, survival and hope.
