The popular Canadian singer's first Yuletide album is produced and arranged by her husband, Gord Lemon of KGB Music. It includes traditional Christmas songs ("The First Noel" and "Silent Night" amongst others) with new jazzy and R&B arrangements and some lesser known tracks previously recorded by the likes of Wynonna Judd and Celine Dion ("Don't Save It All For Christmas Day"). It also features four songs written by Kelita, two of which are inspired by her personal witnessing of the suffering of those children involved in the sex trade. In particular, the writing of "Not Just This Christmas" was triggered by a televised programme on the childhood slavery in Cambodia. The programme caused Kelita to visit that country and birthed the fundraising project of which this album is a part. "Heavenly Night" is a song apparently inspired after the birth of Kelita's only child Keldon. It has become her signature song during the Christmas season and speaks eloquently of the nativity. This album has a worthy cause, and has some easy on the ear arrangements and vocals. Here's hoping it raises some cash for a worthy charity.
