What a disappointment! Ken is known to long term devotees of reggae music as one of the GREAT voices in reggae and even though there's little or no evidence about his Christian commitment, I confidently expected some wonderful music as the veteran wrapped his warmly soulful voice around his favourite spirituals and hymns. How wrong I was. For a start, there isn't a real reggae rhythm in earshot. Instead, producer Clem "Bushranger" Bushay gives Ken the cheesiest set of accompaniments since the Kraft Factory Dinner & Dance. Next, the Jamaican star tries to iron out many of his soul inflections and sing in a smoother, and probably what he considered a more "reverential" way, on hymns like "Lead Me Oh Lord" and in the process sings flat. A limp, sad album from a major talent.
