It came as a huge surprise when Jen Ledger stepped out from behind the drum kit for Skillet to record this EP. Considering the massive international success of Skillet Jen's venture was clearly going to be a risky one but judging from the positive critical response and the fact that Cross Rhythms has chosen four tracks from the EP for its playlist - "Not Dead Yet", "Warrior" (featuring Skillet's John Cooper), "Foreigner" and "Iconic" - we're going to be hearing a lot more from this talented lady. The song "Not Dead Yet" was borne out of Jen's battle with panic attacks in recent years and learning to find peace in Christ. She told an interviewer recently, "Truthfully, the only reason I'd ever wanted to do music was to bring people hope." Equally impressive is "Foreigner" with a robotic rhythm and a triumphant chorus. At times Ledger sounds a bit like Paramore which is not such a bad thing and with bandmate Korey Cooper and award-winning producer Seth Moseley adding some exhilarating production touches this has to be one of the best rock debuts for years.
