This is the second solo album from Lemmie, a singer who is a member of The Chicago Mass Choir. She signs herself in the sleevenotes as a Psalmist for Christ. Two songs are written by Lemmie but the major writer, including the title track, is her producer, Percy Gray Jr. Live recordings obviously suit Lemmie, as her first solo album was also live. She has such a powerful voice that she's most effective on the up-tempo tracks with backing choir vocals. The 12 songs chosen, however, have good variation and balance by the inclusion of slower numbers, one of which "Call Him Anytime", has the pace and feel of an old spiritual. The overall feel of the album benefits from the close relationships of the solo singer, the producer, the choir and the musical director, Jeral Gray Jr and crew.

Product Description
Through the ages, traditional gospel music has been largely defined by a small handful of female singers who can match unrivalled on-stage enthusiasm with an equally unrivalled voice.
Chicago Mass Choir’s Lemmie Battles is quickly establishing herself as one of those singers. In the tradition of Shirley Caesar, Aretha Franklin and Albertina Walker, Lemmie’s driving stage presence and powerful vocal performances make her one of the rising stars of Gospel music.
With a style that somehow manages to be both contemporary and traditional at the same time, Lemmie’s voice cut through Gospel music in a way that few singers ever do, which is why she has been selected to sing with many of the top names of Gospel Music. This new album will propel Lemmie to the main stage in Gospel music.
'She is a spiritual human dynamo! This is a most-have CD for your collection.' Shirley Caesar
'An anointed vessel whose time has come, she will no longer be one of Chicago’s best kept secrets, but the world will know her.' Dottie Peoples.
'Lemmie is one of the great God-fearing missionary evangelical singers of our time.' Albertina Walker.
