The first time we Brits caught on to the gospel music of Leon Patillo was when he toured the UK with Andrae Crouch, playing songs from his 1979 solo debut. Surrounded by phalanxes of keyboards, he made a pretty loud sound for just one guy in the spotlight. But then he was simply following the pattern of this album which is very much built around Patillo's immense keyboard skills and new found faith. Consequently this set of funky danceable faith inspired songs was the perfect introduction to his talents. From the opening title cut and understated funky "High On You" to the insistent message of "Born Again", Patillo certainly knew how to groove and write a catchy song. Things slow down in the second half of the album and go in a more pop direction until the closing altar call ballad "Come". Nicely produced but not overcome by anything like a costly production, this is a workmanlike introduction to Leon Patillo.
