Liezel Goosen is today one of the worship leaders at Jarrod Cooper's New Life Church in Hull. This 2001 release was recorded in South Africa. The gentle piano and guitar music that pours out of her heart paints a picture of a Heaven filled with fluffy clouds, with a warm embrace full of love and mercy and grace. The picture is clearly one that inspires a worshiper to want to be in Heaven with the Lord who led them home. The lush escapism of this album is a far cry from the gritty streets of Hull. Four of the songs here are sung in Afrikaans. Although there is no translation, the notes about "Madagascar Child" tell of Liezel seeing a four year old girl lying dying in a tunnel, with no one stopping to help, and the heartbreaking impact it had on her when as a 15 year old herself she could only offer a hug and Jesus' love. Two of the tracks were co-written with Liezel's husband Lood, with a third "Love Like This" being their wedding song. All in all, a pleasing, easy listening set but we await Liezel's Hull-based music with more interest.
