Marcus was once the lead singer with gospel R&B pioneers Commissioned so not surprisingly the opening title track is a piece of sinuously funky R&B complete with vocals that ooze soulful assurance. That's followed by the delicious, mid-tempo floater "Ready Will U Be" which warns the listeners that we all need to be ready to meet the Lord. After such a bright start the album loses its way somewhat with simply too many slow songs so that even with all of Marcus' dazzling vocal pyrotechnics, the album cannot hide the weakness of some of the songs. Clearly instrumentalist Terrance Herd has to take some of the blame. This said, expect to hear the title track on Cross Rhythms radio soon, it really is one of the best new R&B gospel cuts to come out this year.
