Wisbech-based worship leader McChlery takes five of his more recent worship songs into the studio and gives them laid back acoustic renditions. "Desperate We Are For You" opens with picked guitar and flute which provide a sparse background for Matt's rich voice and thoughtful lyrics. This and "Wonderful Counsellor" are both tried and tested congregational songs but work just as well in this stripped down setting. The pace picks up a bit with "You Alone (Glorious In Beauty) before dropping back to plucked guitar and vocals for "God Of The Outcast" only to pick up again for "Wonderful Counsellor". The EP closes with a piano accompaniment for "Essence Of All Purity". While the production cannot match the big budget US offerings, the songs are well showcased and are certainly worshipful.
