I must have been one of the few not over-impressed with this artist's debut last year and would not have joined in electing him New Artist and Male Vocalist Of The Year. However, I find this new set far more convincing, even to conceding that, yes, he is indeed rather good. This is a collection of classy new songs from such trusted sources as Babbie Mason, Phil Madeira, Bob Farrell and Gary Chapman and "Savior" from our very own Paul Field/Nia Jones. Michael's vocal work evidences mature strength, pushed forward by such inspiring musicians as Dan Huff, Jerry McPherson, David Hungate and Shane Keister. Backing vocalists include Ashley Cleveland, Judson Spence and Marty McCall. I have to say that although it's all very high quality I find the total effect a little colourless, lacking in passion or anything that really catches fire. I still can't completely concede that English is particularly distinctive, and prefer Bob Carlisle on this type of stuff. It's to be hoped his voice problems clear up to enable him to stay with the music.

Michael delivers a second project filled with wonderful songs. The cd opener "Save Me" is a ccm pop classic, a great part of ccm history! Another radio fave is "Holding Out Hope to You", I luved this song from the first time I heard it."Love Moves in Mysterious Ways" has those old familiar words; we never know how things are gonna work out; and no use trying to make sense of it!! "A Place Called Hope" has that nice pop ccm quality. The song "Saviour" is destined to be a signature if not already!Great song for you Michael to record: I luv it!!"Always For You" has that mystery music sound to it; great tune! The last song "There's Not a Crown Without a Cross" strikes home; what true believer cannot relate to this song! GOD Bless!- Don
