'Bon Appetit' is an American magazine dedicated to good food and entertainment, which is releasing a series of albums of good music. Volume 2 in this series is Michael Omartian. This album is unlikely to satisfy those who like their classical music to sound like classical music. The Mozart themes are clearly recognized but are strongly flavoured with Micheal Omartin's distinctive style. There are many similarities to his previous instrumental album 'Conversations' in the style of his playing and the arrangements, though this album is of a far higher standard. The sleeve claims Omartian "is considered one of the best pianists in today's recording industry" and after listening to this album it is easy to agree with that statement. The standard of his playing is truly impressive. Though the piano and flute are real, Omartian's penchant for things electronic can be found in the orchestral backing. But the mixing is good and the backing does not spoil the effect.
