Miss Kristin is a Californian-based singer/songwriter whose previous CDs have largely left Cross Rhythms reviewers a bit nonplussed, maybe because the lady seems to enjoy flirting with New Age imagery on her CD sleeves. But more likely the lack of enthusiasm is because Kristin's voice is only so-so with an unfortunate warbling quality. Here she weighs in with a Yuletide effort. A big plus is that the singer avoids the over familiar carols and Christmas songs opting instead for six seasonal ditties (plus a remix) from her own pen. A big minus is that Kristin's seasonal compositions are often as banal as the worst things that department stores subject us to each year with "Santa's On His Way" a true stinker. Add to that Kristin's wobbly vocals and accompaniments that though, thankfully, featuring "real" musicians never really rise above demo quality and you have a CD you simply won't want. . . even as Christmas present.
