This six-track mini-album is a pleasant debut from Brummie band Mowglee, who were first seen leading worship at Greenbelt a couple of years ago. The lads' Asian background will no doubt lead to comparisons with Cornershop - which is unfair, as they're completely different. Their's is a straightforward pop sound, rather than another East/West fusion-type thing (a slight disappointment for me, as I was looking forward to something I could play on my UCB show!). The two strongest songs - "Move On" and "Beautiful Lord" - appear in two different versions, and the gospel mix of the latter is a nice, classy piece of soul with a rock guitar solo thrown in for good measure. Mowglee have obviously grown up on pop, rock and soul, and all those influences shine through on this CD. It also speaks volumes about Kingship Music's dedication to diversity; their back catalogue so far includes black gospel and poetry recordings and even some country music!
