Nova are a young-sounding rock band with a praise and worship slant originating from Grosvenor Church in Barnstaple, North Devon. They have been playing at conferences in the South West in recent years and have finally put some of their songs down in zeroes and ones on a shiny disc. They have heavyweight support in the form of Chip Kendall, who appears on "United". So are they ready for national exposure? In my opinion, sadly no. It isn't that the promise is absent - it's clearly there. But that is what it is - promise, rather than delivery. To these ears, the CD sounds more like a demo recording by a band that is still working up its best material and hasn't yet edited out the weaker songs. Give them a couple of years' hard work and they could channel their passion and vim into realised potential. Maybe it's a case of saying "watch this space" at this stage.
