Soccer AM was on TV one Saturday morning when I said to my teenage daughter that this debut disc was worth a listen. No contest as we were immediately arrested by the innovative passion of five young guys from the Emerald Isle ("let's take Ireland for Jesus!") doing their stuff in offering an alternative to the cultural norms of pre-occupation with sex, drugs, alcohol, and money. Offering something mystical, holy or spiritual indicating the presence of God might be considered a tall order from a bit of plastic, but the superbly packaged and produced album that is 'Lose The Shadow Life' cuts the mustard. "I am so sick of the mainstream, so here I go against the flow again, again, again", declare the boys as they strike a chord and more with those of us who believe we were destined to fly - spiritually speaking - not off some pier in Bognor or a high-rise in Bangor. They are right brothers in calling people to "hear that other song that calls us on, sounds against the bitter wrong." With 60 minutes worth of material the aptly named band resonate with thought provoking lyrics enhanced by clever musicianship. I like this band. I like their website. I like the photography. I like this video enhanced CD.
