Pete has quite a recording history having enjoyed radio play with a solo album under his former name of Pete Cant, being a member of the BYFC teen pop group Oxygen and appearing on New Wine live albums. Now he has released a full-length album recorded in the studio at St Thomas' Church, Philadelphia Campus in Sheffield, where he is also worship director. The intriguing title and quirky, almost Python-esque, cover with 35 images slightly belies the content of the album. There are visionary songs such as "Signs" and "Jesus Loves Me" which present Pete's own take on the present and future but the main picture is one of strongly biblical songs, heartfelt prayers, statements of faith, certainty and intent. This is not a criticism, however, as Scripturally rich songs for those who have grown up listening to alternative or indie rock are may be sorely needed at this time. Rock drums and guitars are the backbone of these running-pace songs but are juxtaposed with changes in tempo, keyboard-based and quieter, more reflective tracks such as the already noted "Jesus Loves Me". It is no surprise that Pete's style is popular with students and young adults but it may also appeal to anyone looking for a hopeful and buoyant antidote to often prevailing negativism.

I whole-heartedly agree with this review. Pete's music and lyrics are one thing, but his attitude to God and his music career is the true point for admiration. He is a generous, easy-going and put simply, a cool worship leader and therefore will be comfortable with all age groups in all settings for gigs and performances that I am sure he is planning to do.

I am very much looking forward to information on tour dates or appearances (maybe spring harvest or something to that tune would be highly appropriate for him!) I've found his website now - search pete james on google.
