This exciting album takes a traditional Salvation Army Songsters Brigade, a mixed voice church choir of 50 voices who, I understand, only formed recently and aligns them with a collection of some of the most popular worship songs of recent years. Many of these songs are from the well known singer/songwriters Matt Redman, Tim Hughes and Stuart Townend (no, there's not a Salvationist among them!). The album begins with a rousing version of "Be Thou My Vision" and the electric guitar solo and brass section combine surprisingly well. Other highlights include a stunning version of "King Of Kings" which begins with a beautiful vocal solo and the harmonies between the male and female voices work well. Another standout is a jazzy version of "Heal Our Nation" and an impressive saxophone solo was intertwined into the track. Overall this album brought a fresh new sound to well known songs.
