Stirring up a fizzy cocktail of styles, Phanatik delivers a slab of quality in this well-tuned solo debut. From the more than ample introduction, almost a full-blown track in itself, to the final number, "Hope In The Streets", we are taken on a lyrically passionate journey. Rapping about what it means to be a Christian, the place of hip-hop in the Church and the importance of repentance, Phanatik keeps it original all the way. There are out-and-out party tunes like the crowd-bumper "Psych Check", guaranteed to get every head nodding in firm approval. Also check "Press On", a driving bass lick with a strong line on focusing on God alone. This guy is set for great things. This is an album that can comfortably sit alongside, if not above, any current mainstream hip-hop.
