This professionally produced CD package was a real disappointment. Sam Charman sounds like he's trying so hard, but nothing quite gels. The quirky vocal delivery is vaguely reminiscent of Brian Ferry or Steve Harley (without the r's, a la Jonathan Ross), delivered at a near shout which continually threatens to drift off key. The sequencer accompaniment creates an electro/dance vibe which seems out of place against Sam's edgy rock vocals. Sam, concentrate on musicians - get some real drums - and production even if you have to finish it off in a cheaper package. A couple of good tracks rather than stretching to five would also save costs. Not sure about some of those lyrics either - run them past a seasoned wordsmith for some advice.
