In late 2009 Liverpool-based Shane made this excellent four track EP available as a free download from the website www.heavy-clouds.com. The prolific musician is best known for his ambitious project of releasing a song a week in 2006 as well as his favourably received albums 'I'll Repair Your Mistakes' (2005) and 'Delight In You (Shine Like The Stars)' (2006). 'Heavy Clouds' opens with rifftastic rocker 'The Crunch', a fine number complete with pounding drums and a feedback-drenched fuzz-tone guitar solo. Clocking in at just three minutes it doesn't overstay its welcome and it's one of those songs you just have to skip back to and play again. The remaining three tracks stay in more familiar territory, "Across The Seas" is a sweet ballad with a convincing falsetto vocal, "Terror=Error", apart from the unusual title, features some great choppy guitar work and the downbeat title track is the kind of classy pop rock that Shane does so well. I'm told that one-time Delirious? Man Stu G helped out on these tracks. It shows. Download yourself a copy while you still can.
