Reviewed by Trevor Kirk I am eternally grateful that we have musos in the UK who can produce cringe-free stuff that hits the mark. This us the latest of that genre; Shane Rootes from Worthing, who writes for Kingsway’s Children’s Ministry Magazine, is a veteran of all the Bible Weeks and conferences, travels all over the UK and Europe doing roadshows, training events, services and concerts, and can also write a good catchy song. This, as the title suggests, is packaged as a “family” album, and the old Sister Sledge ‘70s hit gets an airing in two mixes. Other noteworthy tracks are “The Dream”, an anthemic six minute opus looking forward to the time when all Christians’ dreams will come true, and we go to be with Jesus when he returns; “Room Of Teddy Bears”, a slightly sentimental, “Butterfly Kisses”-style song, which reminded me of my daughter’s bedroom, in which the stuffed animal population is in three figures and counting; and the joyful romp of “Higher Higher”, the old Jackie Wilson hit, which Shane dedicates to his wife Miriam. Something for everyone on this, and an object lesson in how it should be done.
