A gifted vocalist, pianist and songwriter, Shannon Wexelberg is a testimony to the nearness and goodness of God. The soothing collection of songs on ‘Story Of My Life’ speaks of the joy of God in the midst of good times and bad. The record has a distinctly classical feel to it with Shannon’s well-trained ear for melody and chord progression. The majority of songs on the record have a deep theme for a call to intimacy. “He’s That Close” and “You Carry Me” are great examples of this. My favorite on the disc is “Shadow Of A Tree” which is a testament to the cross: “I found Love, I found peace/When Love found me/In the shadow of a tree.” Beautiful piano decorates the track quite nicely. In fact, this mostly piano-driven record is an excellent vessel for Shannon’s voice and message. A great example of this is where Shannon stretches her beautiful voice to the limit on “Story Of My Life”, a testimony to the faithfulness of God in her life. This is a touching album that gently reaches the heart. The record exudes this comment in full. To end the record Shannon makes a moving version of the classic hymn “Take My Life”. One to investigate.
