Sharlene's album notes describe the songs on this 12 song collection as part of her story, songs she has written over time. As you listen, you do get the impression you are invited to a one-to-one chat about her insight into life. The song style reminds me of Carolyn Arends, especially on tracks such as "Fresh Green", which, like the rest of the album, Caroyln is present on backing vocals and engineering! There are some great songs here, "Over The Moon" is a foot tapping, Americana style song with a hint of banjo, while the opener "Carried Away" is an engaging song which seems to reveal more each time I hear it. The only song which did not work for me is "Keeping Me On My Toes" with its plodding beat. This is a highly enjoyable debut.
