A 2003 album by the magnificent Shetland Isles-based group who have become big favourites of mine. Their blend of voices is absolutely goose-bump-inducing while their deft instrumentation where acoustic guitars interplay with Hammond organ and mandolins pick delightfully over piano accordion is a delight. Joyce McDill, Freda Leask and Donna Smith are all fine singers while Trevor Smith is one of the most emotive songwriters of the decade. Standouts on this set are the haunting "Angel Whispers" and the Leask-led "Bohus", a song dealing with a German ship which ran aground in Shetland in 1924. This is captivating music only surpassed by Shoormal's 'Turning Tide' released three years later.
