This nine-track, 69-minute collection of self-penned tracks leaves the listener in no doubt about the depth of love and thanks that Karanja, who produces his music in Kenya, has for Jesus, and in that regard it is delightful. From a listening and participatory perspective, however, it does present some challenges. Firstly, there is comparatively little (and certainly insufficient) variation in tempo, feel or colour across the recording from beginning to end. Secondly, Karanja's style seems to be one that contains a strong sense of "musical monologue", and this might come as a shock to the western worshipping ear brought up on songs with a very clear and defined verse/chorus structure. Also, while a number of the tracks contain individually interesting melodic lines there is generally insufficient range or stretch to engage the listener for long. Karanja's voice is not strong but it is pure. But the deficiencies of structure drag 'I Know' down.
