David M Taylor lives in the village of Baeretswil, Switzerland, where he creates music. Anyone though expecting pastoral sounds or Swiss folk music will be disappointed. David is clearly a chap of contemporary tastes and his band Soul Waiver band are clearly top rate musos. Their expertise quickly becomes apparent with Raphael Angst's funky bass and Manuel Halter's elegant piano, adding a classy edge to the pop, rock, ballads and gospel-tinged numbers on 'Clean'. Production is top rate while the message of Jesus washing us clean of our sins comes over powerfully. The major flaws are David's voice, which has a nasal, slightly metallic quality which won't be to everyone's tastes and the numerous stylistic shifts of the material here. Yet, having said all that, the ambient semi-instrumental "Altar" is a delight.
