This is the debut six-track creation of a Northern Irish band whose principal luminary appears to be one John McSwiggan. The tape is produced to a superior quality than similar offerings it has been my task to review, and it is evident that Mr McSwiggan is a talented lad. I was muchly impressed by his singing and acoustic guitar playing, if not quite so with his lead. The songs are varied and generally pleasingly arranged, however (and where have we heard this before'?), whilst admirable in sentiment, lyrics are a lad predictable: rhyming Calvary, me and free is not particularly earth-frazzling. I'm beginning to think that there is a trade off between evangelical fervour and creativity, one at the expense of the other: would someone out there conclusively prove me wrong, please? This gripe aside, I understand that the band are planning a full length CD, which, if the cliches are circumnavigated, could be worth looking out for.
