Subseven seem to me to be a band with a great potential with almost sublime moments of originality followed by clichéd riffs and groans. The vocalist has a good voice (somewhat Stingesque), which I'd like to hear more of. There is also good use of harmonies from other band members that lifts this album above average. With a definitive direction this band could really earn a reputation of a band with a solid individualism and personal sound. "Faded Letters" was a highlight for me on this EP, almost Linkin Park in places, with atmospheric power chords. I also really like "Mayday" a lot. All in all, this is a fair to reasonably good offering from Subseven. If they could just get to grips with an overall sound they could really carve a niche for themselves. I'd recommend the "Mayday" root - that's a good direction, a great sound. I wish them well.
