Out of the ministry of Leeds-based gospel choir Voices Of Reconciliation comes a musical little brother, Tenor Time. They've been playing live since 1993, including some work with fellow Leeds band HOG. This five-piece combine elements of gospel, hip hop and soul in a potent mix which is sure to propel them into the limelight. This debut EP is a fine achievement from a band so young. Four of the band are under 18! But you'd never tell that from the confidence of the vocal sound. This really is something fresh combining urban musical sounds with lush harmonies and strong raps. "Deeper Love" has a soulful groove and one of those annoying tunes that get lodged in your brain. And if the opening cut is guaranteed to get you, "Da Struggle" with its repetitive refrain "...don't get caught..." will definitely get caught in your mind. "After The Time" is an acappella number again highlighting the strength of the band's vocals. This is a brave debut leaving me wondering what this lot would be capable of if someone gave them a decent length of time in a studio! Somehow, on the strength of this I don't think it'll be long before we hear more. Youth, talent and passion for Jesus, these guys should go far! Get in on the ground floor and get this!
